April 28, 2020 UPDATE FROM USA SOFTBALL OF NEW YORK"
1. USA SOFTBALL OF NY has cancelled all Sanctioned USA Softball Tournaments for the Month of May. I am hoping that June will be better for all.
Good Morning All -
I want all involved in USA Softball of NY to have the same information regarding guidelines as we continue to move forward.
USA SOFTBALL OF New York is totally responsible for any USA Softball Sanctioned Tournament. New York has cancelled all sanctioned tournaments for April and May 2020. Tournaments for the month of June will be looked at later in May.
AS TO TEAM AND LEAGUES: Local and State health department and community officials will dictate whether your team or league is able to hold practices, scrimmages, or games. As you are aware, New York State is in a State mandated "Social Distancing" order until May 15th. This means that local governments cannot allow field use until after the 15th of May. Regardless of your personal beliefs, you need to keep one thing in the forefront of your mind, as you get pressured to practice, have a scrimmage, or play a game, YOU ARE LIABLE for ALL your actions. Please make sure you are following your local health department guidelines.
Despite what some groups may be doing or saying they are doing, if your municipality does not give you a permit, you cannot be doing softball related activities. As of now the USA Softball, for Youth season runs till the end of August 2020 this includes the Bollinger Insurance. The Adult season runs till the end of December 2020.
