OCTOBER 18, 2020 UPDATE FROM USA SOFTBALL OF NEW YORK"
1. USA SOFTBALL OF NY WILL MONITOR, IN CONJUCTION WITH TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS, THE STATUS OF EACH USA SANCTIONED TOURNAMENT. IT IS TOTALY UP TO THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR TO GET PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THEIR TOWN ALONG WITH GUIDELINES TO HOST THEIR TOURNAMENT. TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS MUST FURNISH A COPY OF THE TOWN APPROVAL TO HOST A TOURNAMENT TO THE STATE COMMISSIONER 10 DAYS PRIOR TO THE START.
Good Morning All -
I want all involved in USA Softball of NY to have the same information regarding guidelines as we continue to move forward.
AS TO TEAM AND LEAGUES: Local and State health department and community officials will dictate whether your team or league is able to hold practices, scrimmages, or games. As you are aware, New York State has given the authority to open parks with their guidelines to local towns. This means that local governments can allow field use. Please make sure you are following your local health department guidelines.
Despite what some groups may be doing or saying they are doing, if your municipality does not give you a permit, you cannot be doing softball related activities. As of now the USA Softball, for Youth season runs till the end of August 2021 this includes the Bollinger Insurance for YOUTH TEAMS. The Adult season runs till the end of December. YOU CAN REGISTER YOUR TEAMS AND GET YOUR INSURANCE AT ANY TIME BUT MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO ANY USA SOFTBALL PLAY OR WHEN YOU HAVE USA UMPIRES DOING YOUR GAME.
Respectfully
David Copeland
